The Parker boys tennis team has advanced to this afternoon's CIF Division 2 Championship match, where they will face off against St. Augustine High School at 2pm in the Balboa Tennis Center.
The Lancers have been solid throughout the season, currently holding a record of 12-5, but have been especially strong of late, winning 7 of their last 9 matches, including playoff victories over Valhalla, Mt. Carmel, and Cathedral Catholic on their way to the Finals.
Head Coach Mackenzie White attributed the success to the team's balance both on and off the court, stating "Each player brings something valuable to the table. The boys' playoff success is due to their focus and confidence on the court as well as skill. Our team has both strong players and strong leaders."
Parker and St. Augustine have faced off once before this season, splitting the 18 game match evenly at 9 wins a piece. The Saints earned the victory, narrowly edging the Lancers in games won by a count of 74-73. This afternoon's match is sure to be highly competitive and very exciting.
